It feels like just yesterday we celebrated a New Year of glimmering lights and big goals. As we are a few months into the New Year, we have began to recognize some hot trends in the beauty industry that we absolutely love and are so excited to implement into our styles going into this year and beyond. Let’s break it down: 

Trend #1: skincare as makeup

It isn’t a surprise that with healthier lifestyles and habits on the horizon, a big trend this year is practicing a solid skincare routine. As times have changed from applying endless amounts of concealers, foundations, and powders to the face on the daily, to healing and cleansing the skin, this has to be one of our favorite trends going into the New Year. When you practice caring for your skin through cleansing, exfoliation, and applying moisturizer, you begin to heal the skin’s barrier which might create dry, dull, skin, breakouts, and a lack of plumpness, which might give you the feeling of needing a few dabs of concealer or a couple swipes of makeup. Therefore, developing a healthy and nourishing skincare routine will help you achieve beautiful skin to rock any makeup look! 

Trend #2: natural makeup looks

This year we have been seeing a lot of popularity when it comes to the “less is more” makeup trends. With that being said, popular makeup looks this year include neutral eyeshadow tones, glossy or natural lips, and fluffy, unfilled brow looks, and less coverage on the skin. With this being a hot trend, we will see a lot of lightweight concealers and foundations with inclusions of beneficial skincare ingredients, which go hand in hand with using skincare as makeup. Therefore, the less is more trend, will be incredibly popular this year.

Trend #3: bold, big lips

With a lot of the makeup trends focusing less on applying to the face, we can see a big increase of products being applied to the lips. Big, bold lips have always been a trend for as long as the makeup world has, well, existed. For this year, we have already seen bold lips going into the New Year. Emphasizing bright, popping lips will help draw attention to your beautiful smile and still add those beautiful pops of color to a more natural look. This one has always been a big favorite! 

Trend #4: long, voluminous, curly hair

One of the styles that is absolutely timeless is voluminous curls. When styling a bride, model, or anybody, one of the best go-to styles is big, voluminous curls as it can shape any face frame and matches so well with any makeup look. This look is not only beautiful for any occasion, but looks perfect on just about anyone! 

Trend #5: do what makes YOU feel beautiful

Despite all of the trends that the beauty world may tell you to follow, as times are changing, a big upcoming trend we can see is the “dare to be different” or “stand out on the crowd” trends. This means that despite others following particular trends, standing out from the crowd and being unique, is, well, totally in. Therefore, trying things that test the normal and that you choose to love on your own is the best way to make you look beautiful, while keeping up with trends.

The beauty world changes everyday. While it is important to stay up to date with trends, it is even more important to focus on what makes you truly look and feel beautiful. Therefore, the best way to do this is to love yourself and follow beauty trends that make you feel positive about how you look and feel confident in your own skin. By doing this, you will stay the beautiful, and amazing person that you are!
